Dedicated, highly skilled staff provide a wide range of services including specialist rehabilitation, respite, dementia and terminal illness care.

The home was the first in East Lancashire to be awarded the Investor in People status - not surprising when even our cleaners train to NVQ level!
Our philosophy is that whatever age, our residents should enjoy today and tomorrow as much as yesterday and our holistic care is geared towards that.
Encouraged to make the most of their talents, they have the chance to take part in a number of social and educational activities including computer, art and exercise classes, bingo and concerts.

Since originally opening in Accrington in 1983, its reputation for providing quality, innovative care has gone from strength to strength.


In May 2000 it became only the second nursing home in the entire country to be awarded five star status by the Residential and Domiciliary Board for its "exceptional standards."

Set in extensive landscaped gardens; Birch Green Care Centre provides high quality nursing and residential care for 67 elderly residents within a warm, homely environment.

The purpose built home, which first opened in 1990 and came under Springhill management ten years later in October 2000, has undergone extensive refurbishment.

Birch Green is proud of its holistic approach to care and residents are encouraged to make the most of an extensive social programme drawn up by its full time activities co-ordinator. Entertainment includes regular concerts, quizzes, discussions and outings to local places of interest.

A committed staff team - whose members are all encouraged to undergo extensive ongoing training - achieved the prestigious Investor In People award in September 2001.

 

 

Residents can relax in their comfortable single rooms or in attractive communal lounges and a sunroom on the ground floor. For those preferring the fresh air, there is a pleasant patio area to sit outside.

 

 

Situated just one mile from the centre of Skelmersdale and on a main bus route, it is convenient both for visitors and the nearby Concourse shopping centre, where able residents regularly enjoy escorted visits.
